The Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) remains committed to monitoring the constantly changing COVID-19 situation both in Arizona and Nationally. At this point, the CDC has extended the social distancing guidelines until April 30. Arizona schools are closed for the remainder of the school year and the Governor issued an executive order restricting residents to their homes beginning 5:00 p.m. on March 31 until April 30. Acting accordingly, ASA is announcing the following:

– The suspension of all ASA sanctioned soccer-related activities will be extended until April 30, 2020. As a reminder, while the suspension is in place there is no insurance coverage provided to any organizations or persons conducting activities (i.e. training, practice, games, etc.) during this suspension.

– Indefinite suspension of Presidents Cup and State Cup. ASA will be establishing and communicating a refund policy to all the registered teams of the events. 

Over the past few weeks, the ASA staff and Board of Directors have remained steadfast and focused on doing everything in our abilities to host Presidents Cup and State Cup if and when it was deemed safe for players, coaches, referees, and families. Unfortunately, given the current situation, we are confident that this is the appropriate action.

As we head into this extended period without soccer, it is important that everyone remain mindful and comply with ASA Bylaw 812, Section 6, Part c regarding Clubs soliciting Players. It states:

Part c) Clubs Soliciting Players: No representative of a member Association within ASA shall be permitted to INITIATE contact, in any form or method, for registration to their club or team outside of defined tryout /evaluation window (part a and b above). Representatives of a member association as defined as board members, coaches, assistant coaches, managers, parents, players’ parents, players’ guardians, players’ siblings, players themselves or a registered member of that club.

Thank you for all of your support. We remain committed to getting all our players, coaches, and referees back on the field as soon as we can do so safely.
