The Vail Soccer Club (VSC) is brand new---starting play in the Fall of 2007. Our focus is to “play and practice where we live”. We have defined our target community as the Vail School District. As such, our in-house league parallels the year-round school schedule so we can still play soccer yet take advantage of school vacations. Also, we have divided up our in-house teams to serve three primary regions of the school district; we have teams in Corona de Tucson, Rita Ranch, and Vail---all playing at the elementary or junior high schools within that smaller region. Games are played on Saturdays again at local schools. VSC considers its in-house league to be players U-10 and younger. VSC coaches challenge players at this age level to develop skills, game knowledge, and solid soccer basics----we are in no hurry to move players along desiring instead to mature the fundamentals of the game at this younger age. The VSC staff and coaches emphasize that the game of soccer is “mastered” only by hard work over time. Players older than U-10 play as VSC teams but participate in the Pima County Junior Soccer League (PCJSL). This league provides both recreational and competitive programs which utilizes club inter-play throughout the Tucson area. Again though, we practice at local facilities, then visit PCJSL assigned soccer fields for games on Saturdays. Our coaches at this level are pursuing the “excellence of the game”---striving for the accomplished player. Our current coaching staff reflects our commitment to community---as all our primary coaches are involved in school soccer programs in the Vail School District.
