Zanelli added, “Bringing an established women's club team with the reputation of Arizona Rush into the league further confirms the sustained growth of the WPSL.” Chris Fernandez, Chris Hospedales, Dalton Kaufman, and Sean Ochoa will coach the Arizona Rush. This highly experienced staff has demonstrated its steadfast determination to immediately field an exceptionally competitive squad. Arizona Rush has received multiple commitments from highly touted present and former Division 1 players as well as several players with international experience. The coaches and administrators intend to finalize the roster by early April. “To state we are excited about this team is an understatement,” said Coach Fernandez. “We recognize that the WPSL is the highest level of women's soccer in the country, so our coaching staff has been working furiously over the past few months to secure player commitments from very experienced and proven athletes. Our club affiliation with Nike and Eurosport has further strengthened our capacity to recruit throughout the region. Our initial goal is not only to compete at the highest level, but to provide the community of Tucson with a championship caliber women's premier team in an enjoyable, family oriented environment.” Arizona Rush will play its home games at the University of Arizona's Murphy Stadium. The immaculate grass pitch, coupled with the University's modern stadium seating, will create a competitive and enjoyable atmosphere for Rush, the community of Tucson, and the WPSL. “Rush players will surely benefit from the top-notch facilities,” noted Coach Hospedales, “but there is no doubt the Rush supporters will find the intimate game-day environment equally special. Cheering the home team on a warm desert evening is something Rush fans and families will find truly enjoyable.” Rush will be competing in the Southwest Division, the second largest division in WPSL with nine teams. The team will be competing in 14-18 games per season. In addition to Arizona Rush, division teams include the Albuquerque Lady Asylum, Colorado Springs United, Denver Diamonds, Fort Worth (TX), North Arizona, South Select (TX), Utah Spiders, and Vitesse Dallas. The WPSL season will run from May 1st through August 1st. The league championship tournament is played the last weekend of July.
