"E" Certificate Course
Designed as an entry-level course for coaches of 11 a-side soccer to provide general instruction to coaching and organizing your team. This course also introduces the methodology of coaching and the four components of coaching soccer: Technical, Tactical, Fitness and Psychological. Field sessions concentrate on developing technique within small-sided games that also present problems for players to solve within the game. Classroom on team organization i.e., management, care and prevention, and laws of the game are also covered.
Technical sessions used coaching progression methodology and the manipulation of pressure to facilitate player development. Technical topics covered are: dribbling, passing, receiving, heading, finishing, and goal keeping.
Tactical topics introduce offensive and defensive principles. Understanding the roles of the first, second, and third attackers and defenders are explained in a classroom setting as well as in field sessions.
Practical coaching sessions are developed in groups while a chosen candidate takes the role of the coach. The coaching session is evaluated and constructive points presented in a group setting. This facilitates the learning for all coaches.
Course is 18 hour long typically done on a weekend.
Those attending this course are advised to be physically fit and prepared as the course is mentally and physically challenging.
Interested candidates are required to bring soccer shoes, tennis shoes, balls, water, pencil/pen, paper, sun screen, shorts, shirts, and strong desire to learn. Participation is expected from all candidates in the field sessions.
